[SOLVED] Chat box disappears

It randomly disappears and I have to type something and press enter then it comes back. After a few mins it goes away again. Unless I type and enter it doesn't come back. It's annoying as I miss whispers and other stuff ppl say or kills and and other info that it shows in bottom left. I don't even have chat turned off. There's a new option of chat background I have that not checked

Are not you pressing the V key by accident?

Chat background just adds a shader to the text, kind of making it easier to see.
If you're pressing V, like @Infused said, then that could explain why as that hides chat.
